Dubois, Wyoming 2006
… Gateway to the Tetons and the Heart of Cowboy Country.
Welcome to the Firstlight Workshop in Dubois, Wyoming
July 3-9, 2008
To most, Wyoming conjures images of the outdoors and cowboys. Imagine spending 5 days in the heart of the Wind River Range, photographing subjects ranging from working cowboys and local artists, the 4th of July parade and the weekly rodeo, flyfishing set in the breathtaking scenery or roaming the incredible vastness of Yellowstone. These are just a few of the photographic possibilities you will be provided in the Dubois, Wyoming Digital Photography Workshop.
A 5-day digital photography workshop that will allow you to immerse yourself in a subject, nurture your photographic instincts and guide you in digital workflow, shooting, editing and printing.
Along with your instructor you will select assignments from our pre-scouted locations giving you unprecedented access to the area. You’ll spend mornings and afternoons surveying, studying and shooting your subjects and the amazing landscapes. At a pre-assigned time photographers will return to the workshop headquarters to download images and discuss the morning shoot with your photo editor. You will then have the afternoon to further explore the area or go back to your assignment to take advantage of the “golden-hour” of photography. Each evening the instructors will host projection sessions and critiques of the days work while sharing in the camaraderie that Firstlight is famous for.
The final night of the workshop is reserved for a grand finale projection session. Held at the photographer’s headquarters where you will enjoy wine and cheese along with the company of friends and the locals that you spent the week photographing. Firstlight photographers and our guests will also enjoy a gallery show of the week’s “best of” work. The entire process comes to life with the unveiling of our own Firstlight Dubois magazine. Your copy of the Firstlight Dubois magazine will arrive at your home after the completion of the workshop.
Firstlight will provide accommodations in the Twin Pines Lodge, an historic log cabin lodge in the heart of Dubois. Bring your own equipment, or use one of the Olympus E system digital SLR outfits, which will be available for your use at the workshop.
